PS12 Rendel Gunboats - HMS Staunch & HMS Kite
GB, coastal defence gunboats, 1867/1869
HMS Staunch was deisgned as a small ship that could be used by Armstrongs t o carry guns out to sea for testing. Sir Gorge Rendel realised the potential of the type as cheap coastal defense g unboats and offered her to the Royal Navy. Over 30 similar gunboats were built, including HMS Kite.The main armamen t was a 9" or 10" gun carried forward and aimed by turning the whole ship.

Note - The model includes both HMS Staunch and HMS Kite.
