PS23 US Navy Mortar Boat No. 10
USA, Mortar Barge, 1862

The American Civil War saw the widespread use of large artillery pieces to attack fortifications.
Mortar boats were one solution to the problem of getting the weapons to the places
they were needed. Mortar Boat No. 10 was used by the Federal forces on the Mississippi
and mounted a 12" mortar.
The model has been developed based on drawings from Paul Henry's book - Ironclads of the Civil War
