This model is unique in the current Paper Shipwright model range because the ship was never launched. The design was a response to a tender request for a small dredger, but the tender was not successful and the ship was not built.
Maria is a typical modern grab dredger. Small, with a wide beam and intended for work in confined harbours or dock areas. Twin cranes load excavated mud/spoil into an integral hopper amidships.
The name Maria is fictional and it is not intended she represent any real ship.
