BACO barges are part of a combined BArge aand COntainer service operated by BACO Lines. The barges are unpowered and used to carry bulk goods or other items too large for containers. The barges are loaded (each barge can carry up to 670 tons of cargo) then up to 12 are floated into the hull of a larger “mother” ship, which then closes it’s bow doors and proceeds to sea. Up to 625 standard containers (TEU) can also be carried by the ship.
