Tijger was built in Britain in 1868 for the Royal Dutch Navy and was one of 8 low-freeboard, turret armed ships intended for coastal defense duties round the Netherlands. She was modernised in 1880 and scrapped in 1890. The model shows Tijger as she appeared when launched.
