Description

The Folke was a small coastal defense monitor built in 1875. She was a half-sister to the Soelve (see PS01 in the catalogue) and was one of the last class of Swedish monitors built. She was on active service until 1919 and survived both wars. She was converted to a submarine heating plant between the wars and into a barge in 1945. She was sold for scrapping at some date after this.

Folke was unique among her class of 5 monitors in that her gun was fixed to fire over her stern, allowing the Folke to provide fire-cover for retreating ships while herself retreating.
