Description
The RV Celtic Voyager is a research and survey vessel operated by the Foras na Mara/The Marine Institute in Ireland. She is based in Galway and carries out research activities around the coast of Ireland and Britain for marine scientists. The Celtic Voyager was built by the Damen shipyards in the Netherlands and launched in 1997.
Her design is based on a deep sea trawler hull and includes a working deck aft with associated stern gantry and other handling cranes. She is equipped with on-board laboratories and can accommodate up to 8 scientists on voyages lasting up to 14 days.
As well as her role as in marine research she is also equipped to operate as a survey ship and is available for charter.
