Description
The Cove Isle is one of a series of small buoy tenders operated by the Canadian Coast Guard to maintain aids to navigation around the west coast of Canada. She was launched in 1980, built by the Canadian Dredge & Dock Limited, Kingston, Ontario.
Her very small size/draught and typical work-boat arrangement of superstructure aft and clear working deck with a hydraulic crane forward allow her to provide a service in locations that larger vessels could not reach.
She is home-ported at the CCG Base in Parry Sound, Ontario but is not ice-strengthened and usually is laid up during the harsh Canadian winters.
